Getting Started: Beginnning the Process
So, you want to build a home, but you don’t know where to begin?
Here is a checklist to get you started.
| 1. ____ |
Prepare and Understand Your Finances: HOW MUCH
CAN WE AFFORD?
Now is the time to get your finances in order. Check your credit
report. Pay off any outstanding debts, if possible, to improve your
credit rating. Talk with several bankers or mortgage companies and
get quotes on mortgages rates. (We can give you some recommendations
if you need help in this area.) Do you have a house to sell? If
so, can you obtain a bridge loan and begin building while you are
still in the process of selling your house or do you need to sell
your home first? Knowing ahead of time what you can spend, and when
you can spend it, will make the home design and lot selection process
more efficient. |

| 2. ____ |
Determine Where You Want To Live: CHOOSE A LOT.
If you already own a lot you are ahead of the game! If you have not
yet chosen a lot we may have some on reserve in various neighborhoods,
so do be sure to ask. If you have a specific neighborhood in mind
you can purchase the lot yourself or contact us first. (Something
to keep in mind when choosing a lot is the school district and tax
district.) |
| |
|
| 3. ____ |
Determine your home style: CHOOSE A HOUSE PLAN.
You may already have blue prints drawn up or a house plan picked out
or you may need some design help. Whatever the case, we can help you.
At your initial meeting with Stonebridge, if you do not already have
plans, our designer will meet with you and help you turn your ideas
and dreams into a black and white reality. We will discuss topics
such as the approximate size of your home, the style, the length of
construction time to build your home, and the costs. This entire design
process takes a few steps before the final blue print drawings are
complete. If you have authorized official blue prints to be drawn
up and you then decide not to build with us, you are only obligated
to pay for the cost of the drawings, at which point the drawings become
your property. |

When Are We Obligated To Build With Stonebridge? SIGNING
CONTRACTS
You may be wondering at what point during this process are you obligated
to build with us. It is not until contracts are signed that you are
obligated to build with Stonebridge Construction Company. We are so
confident that you will want to build with us that we can make you
this guarantee. |
